Minerva Learning Trust is seeking dedicated individuals to join us as Local Governors and Trustees, helping to shape and deliver our strategic mission, vision, and values. Both roles play a vital part in ensuring the highest quality education for our students, underpinned by robust governance and leadership.

Become a Governor or Trustee with Minerva Learning Trust
Whether as a Local Governor or Trustee, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the education and future of young people in our community. These roles provide not only the chance to give back but also to enhance your personal and professional skills.
Local Governors are responsible to students, staff, parents/carers, and the wider community, ensuring that each school meets the needs of all stakeholders. This role allows you to directly contribute to the education and welfare of young people while building your personal skills in areas such as negotiation, teamwork, and decision-making.
As a Local Governor, you’ll work closely with Headteachers and school leaders to develop supportive and respectful relationships. Your role will involve:
- Maintaining a strategic overview of school operations.
- Reviewing and monitoring progress against the School Development Plan.
- Acting as a critical friend to the Headteacher, providing support and constructive challenge.
- Making key decisions that prioritise teaching, learning, safeguarding, and student wellbeing.

Trustees
Trustees provide clarity of vision, ethos, and direction. They hold leaders accountable for outcomes and staff performance, oversee finances, and uphold standards. Monitoring and support drive improvement, ensuring decisions align with values, goals, and long-term success.

Governors
Each school has a Local Governing Body (LGB) of parents and governors with expertise. Meeting half-termly, they scrutinise leadership, hold leaders accountable, and contribute to students’ education and welfare.
