Minerva Learning Trust recognises the dedication and hard work of students and staff across its family of schools. This year’s results highlight the determination of young people to achieve their goals, supported at every stage by committed staff and families.
Across the Trust, there have been strong gains, with some schools improving attainment and others maintaining levels of performance.
Amid national challenges, Minerva Learning Trust continues to perform well. While national Attainment 8 scores have fallen by over 2 points in 2025, the Trust has seen a smaller decline, falling by around 1.5 points.
EBacc excellence stands out
Trust students continue to excel in EBacc subjects, performing 11% above the national average while maintaining last year’s strong results. This demonstrates the continued focus and dedication of both staff and students in achieving excellence across the core academic subjects.
Although the proportion of students achieving grades 4+ and 5+ in English and Maths has decreased slightly, results remain in line with national trends, reflecting resilience and consistency across the Trust.
School Highlights
- Netherthorpe School (NS): Significant improvements across nearly all measures, with Attainment 8 rising by over 2 points, English and Maths grade 4+ up by 10%, and grade 5+ increasing by 4% compared to 2024.
- High Storrs School (HSS): Continues to deliver some of the highest outcomes locally and nationally, with Attainment 8 rising to 60.4. More than 85% of students achieved grade 4+ in English and Maths, and 75% achieved grade 5+.
- Ecclesfield School (ES) and Stocksbridge High School (SHS): Maintained a strong position with results in line with 2024 outcomes.
- Handsworth Grange (HG): Saw positive outcomes in vocational subjects, science and Business
Driving Improvement Together
All Trust schools have worked hard to raise attainment through targeted interventions, bespoke support, and increased collaboration. This includes alignment of curriculum areas and joint strategies to ensure consistency and excellence in teaching and learning.
Looking ahead, the introduction of a new Department Improvement Framework next year will provide further opportunities to drive improvement, share best practice, and raise standards across all schools in the Trust.
Simon Barber, Deputy Chief Executive of the Trust, said: “We are proud of the effort shown by our students and staff. While this year’s results reflect national trends, it is encouraging to see significant progress at Netherthorpe and consistently outstanding outcomes at High Storrs. Our students’ performance in EBacc subjects, 11% above the national average, is particularly noteworthy. Across our family of schools, our shared commitment to supporting every learner has been clear. With the introduction of our new Department Improvement Framework, we are confident we will continue to strengthen outcomes for all students in the years ahead.”
The Trust thanks students, staff, and families for their efforts and wishes all leavers every success in their next steps.
