Earlier this month, Minerva Learning Trust marked its 10-year anniversary with a time capsule planting at Handsworth Grange Community Sports College, where the Trust’s journey began in 2014.
The time capsule, a testament to the Trust’s growth and achievements, contains student artwork, school prospectuses, staff photographs, performance programmes, and policies, capturing the essence of its evolution from a single school to a network of ten schools by 2024.
Bev Matthews, CEO of Minerva Learning Trust, reflected on the milestone:
“Today, we celebrate 10 years of Minerva Learning Trust. From our humble beginnings as a single school, we have grown into a family of ten schools, committed to educational excellence, innovation, and inclusivity. The time capsule we plant today symbolises our past achievements and our future ambitions, with a focus on fostering confident, well-rounded individuals ready for the future.”
The event brought together key figures from the Trust’s journey, including board members, trustees, and students from Handsworth Grange. Among those present were Kabir Aslam, Board Member and former Handsworth Grange School member, Martin Brader, Chair of Trustees, Jonathan Crossley-Holland, Vice Chair of Trustees, Ed Wydenbach, Member Appointed and Chair for 9 years, Ken Matthews, Co-opted Chair of Handsworth Grange LGB, Bev Matthews, CEO of Minerva Learning Trust, Suzy Mattock, Headteacher of Handsworth Grange Community Sports College.
The ceremony highlighted the Trust’s dedication to its community and its ongoing mission to provide innovative and inclusive education. This celebration is a symbolic step forward in preparing students for a bright future while honouring the rich history of the Trust and its schools.
