The Ofsted report commended Chapeltown Academy for its academic success, noting that students are motivated, attend regularly, and meet high expectations. Inspectors praised the supportive and inclusive environment, stating that “students enjoy learning in a supportive and inclusive environment” and that “staff balance successfully their high expectations for students’ achievement with care for their personal growth.”

Principal Dominic Pinto expressed his pride in the results:

“We are thrilled with this recognition from Ofsted. It reflects the high standards we set for our students and the supportive environment we create to help them succeed.”

Deputy Principal Pippa Langston, responsible for Quality of Education, highlighted the dedication of staff and their role in student success:

“The success of our students is thanks to the expertise of our teaching staff. Teachers are highly qualified in their disciplines and teach well the technical knowledge and skills required of advanced-level courses. We provide students with the tools they need to succeed, ensuring they are prepared for their next steps, whether university, apprenticeships, or the workforce.”

The Ofsted report further emphasised that “students value the high expectations placed on them by staff” and praised the College’s commitment to career planning, which includes tailored advice, work placements, and connections with universities and employers. This holistic approach ensures that “almost all students progress to positive destinations, such as university, apprenticeships, or employment.”

Inspectors also noted the ambitious curriculum, remarking that “leaders have selected an ambitious range of courses and qualifications that enable students, including those with high needs and additional learning needs, to move on to degree-level study and increasingly into apprenticeships.”

Bev Matthews, CEO of Minerva Learning Trust, highlighted the transformative changes implemented at Chapeltown:

“The improvements we’ve made in the past year have significantly impacted both staff and student outcomes. Leaders have made considerable changes in the last twelve months to raise standards so that more students achieve well and teachers thrive in their roles. We are committed to fostering an environment where our teachers are continuously developing to provide the best educational experience.”

Ofsted praised these leadership efforts, noting that “leaders have developed new systems to understand the experience of students and to be assured of the quality of teaching… These actions are having a positive impact on the quality of education that students receive.”

In addition to the glowing inspection, Chapeltown Academy is excited to announce its expansion. Approved for a capacity increase of 100 students starting in September 2025, this development reflects their growing reputation and ability to meet the educational needs of the local community.

Principal Dominic Pinto shared his enthusiasm about this next chapter:
