We are delighted to celebrate another successful year of post-16 outcomes across Minerva Learning Trust, with students achieving strong results across A Levels and Applied General qualifications. This year’s results demonstrate continued improvement across the Trust and reflect the dedication, resilience and ambition of our students, staff and families.
Continued Improvement Across the Trust
The 2026 results show encouraging progress across a number of key measures.
Trust-wide A Level attainment improved compared with 2025, while the proportion of students achieving strong grades also increased. In particular, outcomes at A*-B and A*-C improved across the Trust, demonstrating that more students are securing higher grades and leaving sixth form with strong qualifications for their next steps
Key highlights include:
- A Level APS increased from 34.14 to 34.6.
- Best 3 A Level APS increased from 34.71 to 34.94.
- A*-B grades increased from 49% to 52%.
- A*-C grades increased from 72% to 76%.
- Applied General APS increased from 34.79 to 36.56.
These outcomes mean the Trust is continuing to close the gap to national performance measures in many areas.
Celebrating School Successes
High Storrs Continues to Excel

High Storrs School remains the highest-performing sixth form in the Trust across many academic measures.
Students achieved consistently strong outcomes, with improvements in A*-A, A*-B and A*-C grades, alongside an average grade of B. High Storrs also maintained performance above national benchmarks in a number of key measures, reflecting the school’s continued academic excellence.
Netherthorpe Shows Significant Improvement

One of the most encouraging stories this year comes from Netherthorpe School.
The school demonstrated the strongest improvement trajectory across the Trust, with substantial gains in A Level APS, Best 3 APS and grade outcomes. Particularly impressive was the increase in students achieving A*-C grades, rising from 62% to 72%, alongside improvements in average grades and higher attainment measures.
These results reflect the impact of sustained improvement work and the commitment of staff and students alike.
Outstanding Vocational Success at Chapeltown

Chapeltown Academy continues to be a standout performer in Applied General qualifications.
Applied General APS increased to 41.54, the highest level achieved by the college over the three-year period and significantly above both Trust and national averages. Whilst academic outcomes presented a mixed picture, vocational pathways continue to be a major strength and provide excellent progression opportunities for students.
Applied General Qualifications: A Trust Strength
Applied General qualifications continue to be one of the Trust’s strongest areas.
Trust performance significantly exceeds national benchmarks, highlighting the high-quality vocational education available across our schools and sixth forms. These pathways provide students with valuable skills, knowledge and progression opportunities into higher education, apprenticeships and employment.
Looking Ahead
Whilst there is much to celebrate, we remain ambitious for our students.
Our next priorities include:
- Increasing the proportion of students achieving the very highest grades.
- Continuing to improve AAB outcomes.
- Building on the strong progress seen at Netherthorpe.
- Sustaining High Storrs’ exceptional performance.
- Further developing our already strong Applied General provision.
Thank You
These outcomes are a testament to the hard work, commitment and determination of our students, alongside the dedication of staff, families, governors and trustees who support them throughout their educational journey.
We congratulate every student receiving their results and wish them every success as they take their next steps into university, apprenticeships, employment and further training.
Together, we are continuing to raise standards, expand opportunities and help every young person achieve their potential.
