Minerva Collaborative Learning Alliance

I have loved the opportunity to develop my own practice and develop innovative new approaches. Being part of High Storrs and Minerva Learning Trust has given me huge opportunity to challenge established practice, develop new ways of working in a safe and research-led environment, and grow as a leader.

Assistant Headteacher and Director of KS4, High Storrs School

Welcome to Minerva Learning Trust Collaborative Alliance

The Minerva Collaborative Learning Alliance (MCLA) is our umbrella term for the extensive collection of professional development opportunities available to our staff. Our ethos is ‘Collaborate, Innovate and Inspire’ and by doing so, we bring our values of ‘working together’ and ‘learning together’ to life.

Our Mission

At Minerva Learning Trust, we are dedicated to delivering an exceptional standard of education to students, staff, and stakeholders. Our Collaborative Learning Alliance serves as a catalyst for achieving this mission. Leveraging our established community of exceptional educators, we create learning opportunities that consistently captivate and enlighten our staff, thereby enriching the educational experience for our students.

What Sets Us Apart

  • Collaboration: We believe in the power of collaboration and actively promote the sharing of ideas, resources, and expertise among our member institutions.
  • Innovation: Embracing innovation in education is a core value. We encourage our members to explore new teaching methods, technologies, and approaches to keep pace with the evolving needs of students.
  • Professional Development: We are committed to the continuous professional development of educators. Through workshops, seminars, and training programs, we ensure that our members stay informed about the latest educational trends and research.
  • Community Engagement: Building strong ties with the community is essential for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. We actively engage with parents, local businesses, and community leaders to strengthen the bond between schools and the communities they serve.

Minerva ROUTES

Unique to us, Minerva runs its own timetable of internal continued professional development courses. These ‘ROUTES’ are run internally by our team of experts from across our schools and the central team. To aid collective development, the ROUTES programme is updated annually with training that has been requested specifically by our staff and includes opportunities for teaching and support staff, with a bespoke ROUTE for aspirant leaders and our ECTs.

Minerva Leaders of Education

Staff seeking one-to-one support or who wish to obtain a targeted skillset can apply to work with a Minerva Leader of Education (MLE). Working one-to-one with their assigned coach, the pair will create a strategic plan, meet regularly and work towards achieving tailored ambitions. Our MLEs are experts in their field and come from across all areas of teaching, leadership and business services.

Personal Development Plans

We support the personal ambitions and direction of each staff member by providing annual and interim personal development plans for every Minerva Learning Trust team member. We believe in ‘improve not prove’ and work closely with colleagues to ensure Ambitions are bespoke and personalised to their practice.

Shadowing Programme

Trust leaders with ambitions to take on a leadership role can join our shadowing programme which gives insight into the daily workings, objectives and responsibilities of different areas of leadership.

Annual Conference

At the start of every academic year, we bring the full team together for a unique learning and networking opportunity. Each year we bring in a range of external speakers to educate our staff on the latest developments in their field and we use the internal expertise from across the schools to help lead too. Past speakers have included experts in the fields of SEND, AFL, Equality, Speech Therapy and Mental Health.

The Hub

The Hub is our one stop shop for all things MCLA and professional development. Used as a vehicle to house all professional development videos, resources and research, all colleagues can access The Hub at any given point and can use this to request bespoke and personalised training via the MLE programme.

Aspirant Leaders Programme

All schools subscribe to the Minerva Aspirant Leaders Programme which helps grow our middle leaders by offering them short term opportunities in senior leadership. As well as their in-school project, we work closely with The Ambition Institute to ensure they earn accredited qualifications, such as the NPQSL.

Early Career Teachers

Our collaboratively written Trust policy supports all schools in implementing the Early Career Framework. We work closely with leaders in schools to support them with this and come together six times a year as a group to celebrate their brilliant practice and development.
