My working life has been spent in education, much of it in Sheffield – my home city. I have been a headteacher in two primary schools each within contrasting social and economic settings. I worked for Ofsted for many years, initially in the School Improvement Division inspecting schools with serious weaknesses, monitoring schools in special measures and inspecting schools in the independent sector. I have been a governor in several Sheffield primary schools and I am currently on my third school as Chair of Governors.
I remain an enthusiast about education and committed to playing a part, albeit a small one, in improving the life chances through a good education of young people in this city.
