Fiona Finch - Director of Professional Development

Fiona FinchDirector of Professional Development

I have worked in education for the last 20 years, beginning my career as a Drama teacher and Head of Performing Arts across South Yorkshire before moving to Stocksbridge High School, in 2011. During my time at Stocksbridge High School, I have held a number of roles including Subject Leader for Drama, Lead Learner, Specialist Leader for Cultural Learning with the Arts Council and Assistant Head for Student Leadership and Enrichment. I am now the strategic lead for Teaching and Learning, overseeing QFT, CPD, QA and SEND provision.

I believe passionately in the power of education to change the life chances of young people, within the communities we serve, and feel privileged to be able to work as part of the Minerva Learning Trust team. Through evidence-based research and collaborative approaches, I aim to ensure students have access to quality first teaching every lesson, every day - delivered by staff who are empowered through high quality professional development.

My key areas of strength and expertise are: the strategic leadership of Teaching and Learning, including the implementation of research informed CPD opportunities for colleagues, development of teachers at all levels and the creation of a school culture based around ‘improving, not proving’.

What I do:

As Trust Director of Professional Development, I focus on the strategic development of Teacher Development across the Trust’s schools through leadership of the MLE Coaching programme, Trust Network meetings and development of the Ethical Leadership Framework across Minerva Learning Trust.
