I am a relatively new counsellor; I have worked in counselling settings within education systems for around 2 years across a school and university with young people. I have also had mental health experience working on crisis lines and in a charity setting with young people.
Most of my work is one to one counselling sessions with children and young people, but can involve group work and supporting staff needs with regards to students.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I draw on the theories of person-centred, attachment and cognitive behavioural therapies, alongside other approaches in order to create a holistic understanding of an individual to help support them. I feel strongly that counselling support can be offered for any need, and that each individual should be given an opportunity to explore what's going on for them in a safe and trusting environment. I value the needs and goals of the client, and work with them at the centre of all the sessions to work towards outcomes that they wish for themselves, in a way that feels comfortable, well-paced and helpful for them.
I have worked with different issues such as: anxiety, low moods, stress, self-esteem and identity, bereavement and loss, abuse and trauma, suicidal thoughts and self-harm.
I am qualified with a PG Dip in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, and am currently working towards a Masters level. I am also a member of the BACP professional body.
