I have over 13 years experience of working therapeutically with children and young people across a variety of settings including; Primary and Secondary schools, Pupil Referrals Units, Community based interventions, Residential units, and Private practice.
I work one on one with children and young people as well as in groups to facilitate and support their mental health. I am a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist with a focus on Person Centred Counselling.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I draw on a variety of theoretical approaches to be responsive to the child or young person. Throughout this work I am committed to being honest and genuine, and to accepting my clients and their choices without judgement. I seek to understand young people’s experiences from their perspective.
I work with a wide range of issues including: low self-esteem and confidence; anxiety; autism and neurodiversity; anger; family break up; domestic abuse; emotional literacy; relationships, gender and sexuality; grief and bereavement; being looked after and adopted from care; abuse and trauma.
I believe that successful therapeutic work with children and young people is founded in building a relationship in which they feel safe and comfortable. Within the safety of this relationship, trust and honesty grow. I draw on a variety of techniques creatively focused around talk, play, games and art.
I am qualified in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice (Prof. Dip Psy. C) and am a fully registered member of the National Counselling Society.
