I have over 15 years of experience working within the education sector across a variety of settings; to include Further Education, Local Authorities and a range of secondary school roles. Over 10 years of this has been spent as a senior leader within a secondary school setting which includes significant experience as a Headteacher of a very challenging school in West Yorkshire.
I have over 30 years of experience working within business operations, initially working for British Coal across a range of areas before making the transition into the education sector. I have spent 25 years in schools and academies working for 20 years as a senior leader.
I have over 30 years experience working in Human Resources within the public sector and schools. I am a Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development and recently became Level 7 qualified in employment law.
I am an independent Human Resources Consultant who has worked with many types of schools, academies local authorities and charities in the last four years.
John is a former Headteacher and now a National Leader of Governance. He is also an educational consultant, in addition to being a Headship Leadership Coach and facilitator with Ambition Institute. As an independent consultant he works in a range of schools across the country. He was awarded the MBE for services to education in 2018.
My working life has been spent in education, much of it in Sheffield – my home city. I have been a headteacher in two primary schools each within contrasting social and economic settings. I worked for Ofsted for many years, initially in the School Improvement Division inspecting schools with serious weaknesses, monitoring schools in special measures and inspecting schools in the independent sector.
I am proud to have been asked to become a Member of the Minerva Learning Trust. I am a solicitor with over 30 years’ experience across almost every area of local government law and latterly specialised in all aspects of education law and governance and have worked with many schools across the city. I was the legal lead in the establishment of Learn Sheffield, a school company jointly owned by more than 170 schools and the council.
I am an experienced governor who has worked on five governing bodies in the last six years. I am presently Chair of Governors at Birley Spa Primary Academy and was Governor at Handsworth Grange Community Sports College and Newfield School. I am a trained LA consultant governor and since 2012 have been a National Leader of Governance.
I am a business entrepreneur with over 25 years’ experience in the commercial and retail sector; I am also a property developer.
I was previously Head of Human Resources for Sheffield City Council Education Directorate. My role was to lead the human resource strategy & delivery of HR services to schools and the wider education services and more latterly Children’s services.
I am a Chartered Accountant and hold an MBA. My background is in industry where I held a number of senior financial positions. I spent eight years as Finance Director and Company Secretary of Airea Plc before retiring in 2018. During this time, I was also Chair of Trustees of the Sirdar Retirement Benefits Plan. I was born and raised in Sheffield and greatly appreciate the role of education in the city. As a result, I am keen to contribute my corporate governance, finance and trustee experience to the ongoing success of the Trust.
I am a solicitor living and working in Sheffield since arriving to study at University here several years ago. I am a Senior Associate in a large law firm, specialising in the use and protection of intellectual property (IP) rights such as patents, copyright and trade marks, which means I get to handle an assortment of innovative gadgets, designs and brands on a day-to-day basis.
